Portraits

I create contemporary realist portraits that capture more than a likeness—they reflect personality, presence, and the quiet details that make each person unique. Working from life and reference photography, I focus on natural expression, thoughtful composition, and the subtle language of light and color to create paintings that feel timeless and deeply personal.

I especially love painting children’s portraits. Childhood changes so quickly, and a painted portrait has the ability to hold onto a fleeting stage of life in a way no photograph can. My approach is patient and relaxed, allowing children to feel comfortable and themselves, whether we work in my Red Bank studio, your home, or an outdoor setting that feels meaningful to your family.

Each commission is developed collaboratively—from discussing size and setting to wardrobe, mood, and final presentation—so the finished painting reflects not only how someone looks, but who they are.
