Service Description

When: July 14th- July 17th ------10 AM- 1:00----- 4 Days Join me for an immersive four-day portrait painting experience focused on the beauty, immediacy, and energy of alla prima painting. Designed for artists looking to strengthen both technical skill and artistic confidence, this workshop will guide students through the complete process of creating expressive, lifelike portraits directly from observation. Over the course of four consecutive days, students will explore my signature approach to portrait painting — emphasizing strong drawing, accurate values, color harmony, edges, brushwork, and capturing the essence of the subject with freshness and intention. Each session will include live demonstrations, guided painting time, personalized critiques, and practical instruction tailored to each student’s level. Rather than working through a slow, overworked process, students will learn how to simplify complex information, make confident decisions, and build a portrait efficiently while maintaining vitality in the paint surface. Discussions will cover materials, palette organization, mixing believable flesh tones, lighting, composition, and developing a painterly finish. This workshop is ideal for intermediate to advanced beginners, as well as experienced painters wanting to loosen up their work and deepen their understanding of direct painting methods.
